OGs got off to a strong start away at Streatham Croydon, setting the tone early with Jo Crawforth crossing for the opening try. Matt Johnson added the conversion to make it 0–7 and give OGs immediate control.
The hosts responded to keep things competitive early on, but OGs continued to find another gear in attack. Sam Owen added the second try, before a penalty try—awarded for a deliberate knock-on and accompanied by a yellow card for Streatham Croydon—extended the lead further.
With momentum building, Josh Bywater crossed to secure the bonus point before the break, and Johnson’s accuracy from the tee ensured OGs went into half-time with a healthy 26–15 advantage.
The second half saw OGs step things up again. Ben Watts added another try early in the half, before a dominant driving maul set the platform for Checo to break away and score. He wasn’t done there—adding a second shortly after, both converted by Johnson, to stretch the lead out to 45–15.
At that point, OGs were playing with real freedom, moving the ball well and taking their chances clinically. Watts added another late score to push the total beyond 50 and effectively put the game out of reach.
To their credit, Streatham Croydon kept coming and were rewarded with a series of late tries as the game opened up and legs began to tire. A yellow card for OGs during this period added to the pressure, but the result was never seriously in doubt.
The final whistle confirmed a 52–37 win for OGs—an entertaining contest and a well-earned five points on the road.
